Irish pros to box in Scotland this Saturday

January is a quiet month for professional boxing, but there will be Irish fighters in action this weekend.

In addition to middleweights Vladimir Belujsky and JJ McDonagh in Mexico on Thursday, two further Irish boxers will fight on Saturday night [January 27th] in Moodiesburn, Scotland.

The Knights of St Columba Social Club will be the venue for Prospect Boxing’s Burns Night card. The small hall show just outside Glasgow will feature two time Scottish light welterweight title challenger Shaun McShane [5(0)-4(0)-1] and unbeaten Belfast welterweight Matthew Wilton [16(3)-0].

Donegal fighter McShane will box in a six rounder as he continues to build momentum ahead of a potential first fight in Ireland later this year.

East Belfast boxer Wilton will fight in a four rounder as he looks to make a fresh start in 2018 following a stop-start few years.

Also featuring on the card will be Eddie Doyle, Kristen Fraser, and Billy Stuart.
