Hearn: Haymon wants Quigg v Frampton lets make it straight after July 18

MATCHROOM boss Eddie Hearn hasn’t given up on making Carl Frampton versus Scott Quigg and hope negotiations resume on July 19.

Both Cyclone and Matchroom had discussed making a July 18 mega bout between the pair only for negotiations to break down in a very public manner.

The Belfast and Bury fighter now face challenges on opposite sides of the Atlantic come on the same date, with Quigg taking on former Frampton foe Kiko Martinez in Manchester and ‘The Jackal’ putting his IBF super bantamweight World title on the line against Alejandro Gonzalez Jr in El Paso Texas.

However, if they are both victorious on July 18 Hearn hopes the clash between the pair can be made straight away.

Speaking to IFL TV Hearn said,

“I just hope that straight after those two fights, they are on the same night, that we can get i made just like that. I have spoke to Al Haymon’s (PBC boss who works as advisor for Frampton) people and they say they want to make the fight. It remains the biggest fight out there, it remains the biggest pay day out there for both of them.”

Frampton did call for the Quigg clash as soon as he dismantled Chris Avalos in Belfast earlier this year, but since negotiations failed hasn’t been as vocal about the clash as Team Quigg.

Teaming up with PBC boss Al Haymon will open up a number of doors for the Belfast puncher and Quigg may no longer be top of the wish list. Haymon works closely with Leo Santa Cruz a ‘Jackal’ target as well as some big name featherweights.
