Hearn confident Frampton v Quigg WILL happen
EDDIE Hearn believes Carl Frampton and Scott Quigg will happen eventually.
The Matchroom boss had hoped to see the pair fight in July, but failed to meet Cyclone Promotions 60/40 guaranteed demands and the Quigg will now fight danger man Kiko Martinez on an aptly named ‘High Stakes’ card.
Hearn, who expects Frampton to fight Stateside in July, admits defeat to the former four time European title holder and former IBF champion will put paid to any Frampton versus Quigg hopes, but is confident his charge will put in a ‘sensational’ display against the the man twice defeated in title fights and thus make a clash with ‘The Jackal’ more mouthwatering and lucrative.
“I don’t think this fight is impossible to make. Everyone I have talked to in boxing have all said ‘he must be mad not to take that money’. If Scott loses everyone loses, but I believe we will make this fight because there isn’t a fight out there for that kind of money. Santa Cruz is up at featherweight and he is never ever going to fight Scott Quigg or Carl Frampton and they couldn’t pay the money that Quigg or Frampton would deserve for that fight,” Hearn told IFL TV.
“If Scott Quigg loses this fight or beats Kiko in a close fight then his value drops. if he looks sensational against Kiko Martinez then his value rises, but this is the perfect test for Scott Quigg. I always said if Carl didn’t fight Scott next then Scott would be in a tougher fight and I think that will be the case. I think Frampton wants to fight in July and I don’t think Belfast is an option. I am sure they are going to fight in America next and I am sure it will be an easy touch for him. “
