Hatton adds more Irish talent to his coaching stable

He has worked with Ryan Burnett and mans the corner for the Upton borthers, but Ricky Hatton has added more green to his stable of fighters.

The British boxing legend, who will come to Dublin to run a show with FS Promotions on June 25, is coaching Navan’s Chris Blaney.

Blaney who won 10 Irish National titles at various levels as an amateur will be both coached and promoted by the former World champion.

The ‘Ginga Ninja’ is already in camp working with ‘The Hitman’ alongside fellow former Irish amateurs Sonny, Anthony and current Irish light middleweight champ Paulie Upton.

Blaney, who previously coached by his father, is readying himself for his first fight as a pro and his first bout in the National Stadium without a vest on June 25 and he is delighted with how things have gone so far under the guidance of Hatton.

Speaking to Irish-boxing.com 24 year old Blaney said,

“The camp so far over in Hattons Gym has gone better than expected. With six weeks to go (to debut) im flying fit and can’t wait to get in there.  As an amateur I’ve been doing the same thing the last few years so it’s nice to have new surroundings and new faces in my corner, of course I’ll miss my dad in my corner, but this is something I have to do to become a champion.”
