Geraghty makes a statement of his own- doesn’t give Fiko time to get down and dirty

Not quite as big a statement as the one made by Jason Quigley, but Declan Gerathy laid down a marker of his own on Saturday night.

While Quigley was out pointing an opponent that holds a victory over Alfredo Angulo his fellow former Senior Champ was taking out a notoriously tough, awkward and even dirty foe in double quick time.

With the skill set at his disposal Geraghty was always expected to defeat Oszkar Fiko, who with 18 wins has and 16 loses boasts a winning record.

The Hungarian was meant to make difficult for the 25 year old Dubliner, indeed at the very least, considering his usual reckless approach, was meant to rough up ‘Pretty Boy’.

However, Fiko was taken out in a round by the MGM puncher in Spain. Geraghty, a fighter renowned more for panache than power landed a sweet body shot in the first which Fiko never recovered from.

The win was the Dubs tenth and third by way of knockout. Geraghty expects to be out next on the undercard of Liam Smith’s next World title defence.
