The John Breen trained welter ended a fast paced opening round with a cracking counter left shot to send Tony Dixon to the canvas.
The Welsh puncher rose to his feet, but couldn’t regain enough of his senses to convince the referee he was in any condition to continue.
As a result the fight was waved off with just seconds of the first round to go.
The victory, the most impressive of Gallagher’s career, came against an undefeated fighter in his back yard and the fact it played out live on Spike TV will do Gallagher’s profile no harm.
