Stephen Ormond put himself in line for a World title shot after a shut-out win over Marcos Jimenez in Boston last Saturday night.

The Clondalkin flier overcame ‘El Tigre’ to claim the IBF Inter-Continental lightweight title at the House of Blues on a Murphy’s Boxing card.

Headlining a card jam-packed with Irish talent, the 33 year old dominated his Dominican Republic opponent to take the fight 100-90 on all three judges’s scorecards.

The win sees Ormond improve his record to 21(11)-2(0), while Jimenez drops to 21(14)-7(3).
