Friday 13th clash for Agyarko – ‘Black Thunder’ returns this weekend

Caoimhin Agyarko [7(4)-0] has been handed a late notice fight this weekend.

The rising prospect was today confirmed on this weekend’s Queensbury show.

The middleweight looks set to take on Robbie Chapman [6(0)-5(1)] on Friday November 13 in the BT Sport studio in London.

Agyarko had been in training for a winter date, but official conformation of the fight only came five days out.

It was hoped ‘Black Thunder’ would take a step up on proposed December 5th or December 19 cards, that were meant to be populated by Michael Conlan and Carl Frampton.

However, neither Belfast name will fight next month and Agyarko returns this week.

The late conformation suggests his fight on the undercard of Mark Heffron and Denzel Bentley’s British middleweight title fight will be more keep busy than step up.

That said, in Chapman, he will face a game foe.

The Southern Area title challenger has moved into the ‘away fighter’ circuit recently but gave good tests and went the distance with Fearghus Quinn and Ben Fail in the past two months.

London-based Agyarko has called for tests and perceived step ups on a regular basis, particularly over the last 12 months.

He told Irish-boxing.com that former British champions and undefeated 15-0 fighters had turned down offers to fight and he hasn’t been shy about suggesting fights on social media – including versus Danny Dignum.

It’s another chance for the 23-year-old to put on a show for the television cameras and impress fight fans ahead of a big 2021.
