Frampton turns downs Big Brother offer!
IBF super bantamweight champion of the World Carl Frampton revealed he turned down an offer to appear on Big Brother.
The ‘reality TV’ show, aired on Channel 5 wanted the Belfast fight favourite to appear alongside the likes of Daniel Baldwin and a former Atomic Kitten singer.
‘The Jackal’ claimed the money offered was tempting and his wife Christine was keen on him partaking, but he turned down the offer.
Speaking in his Sunday Life Column the World champ said,
“I got an offer to be in the latest Celebrity Big Brother and my wife Christine wanted me to give it a go. But I decided it wasn’t for me, even though the money would have been pretty good.
“It can get pretty heated in there and plenty of people end up saying things they don’t mean and ruin their reputations.
“I would consider I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here in the jungle.
“I’d be up for all the eating maggots and the various bits and pieces of crocodiles but the one reality programme Christine has told me I can’t do is Strictly Come Dancing because so many go on and have affairs.”
It’s not quite boxing news, but the offer does prove Frampton’s profile has grown massively and shows the power of fighting on terrestrial TV. David Haye used the Jungle to increase his profile and his cross over appeal to good effect.
