Frampton set for USA? Massive St Patrick’s Day Irish Card in NYC

EDDIE Hearn claims Carl Frampton could make his American debut before the year is out and has hinted at a massive St Patrick’s Day Irish card in New York, which will include the leading Irish fighters in his stable.

The Matchroom boss revealed he is in talks with Lou DiBella about putting ‘The Belfast Boy’ on the under card of Jermain Taylor’s clash with Jessie Nicklow.

In fact the undefeated Commonwealth champion could end the year with a bang by filling the chief support slot live on HBO.

“I had a chat with my good friend Lou DiBella and he wants one of our fighters on the under card of Jermain Taylor’s show which is on HBO,” Hearn revealed. “We are looking at getting Carl Frampton an opponent for that show and he could end up being chief support. It could be a great chance for him to get some massive exposure Stateside.”

Hearn has developed good contacts in America and with DiBella, who promotes Irish middleweights Andy Lee and Matthew Macklin, in particular and has been making the most of his positive relationship with the New York based promoter.

The heir to the Matchroom throne secured Darren Barker a shot at Sergio Martinez and brings Kell Brook across the water for a December 17 fight.

Now it seems Paul McCloskey and Frampton could benefit as the Promoter is trying to persuade DiBella to make Matthew Macklin’s rumoured St Patrick’s Day world title fight with Sergio Martinez an Irish boxing festival.

Hearn is in talks re adding ‘Dudey’ and Frampton to a mouth watering fight menu that is said to include Andy Lee.

“I am also talking to Lou about getting Paul McCloskey and Carl Frampton on the under card of Macklin Martinez on St Patrick‘s weekend. Andy Lee is on that card
