Frampton mandatory Rigondeaux denied Visa to UK?

It was meant to be the fight that enabled Guillermo Rigondeaux grab some British exposure and thus provide him with a platform to turn up the heat on IBF and WBA World champion Carl Frampton.

However, the former WBO and WBA super bantamweight World champion’s proposed bout with Jazza Dickens has been postponed according to reports online this evening.

Former Willie Casey foe ‘Rigo’, who has been calling out ‘The Jackal’ over the recent weeks, according to reports has been denied a working visa and as things stand won’t be allowed enter the UK for this weekend’s proposed bout.

The rumours have been denied by Frank Warren, who today signed James Tennyson to his stable, but talk of visa issues continue to swirl online.

The revelation is interesting in terms of Frampton as the extremely talented two time Olympic gold medal winner is mandatory for the Belfast fighter’s WBA super bantamweight title  and the governing body have ordered ‘The Jackal’ to defend against the ‘El Chacal’ before July 27.

Cyclone Promotions have always questioned the financial pulling power of the ‘Rigo’ fight when weighed against other options and have been leaning toward a mandatory defence against Shingo Wake or a move up to featherweight to fight Leo Santa Cruz.

The news the Cuban is having UK Visa trouble may move Rigondeaux further down the list of next potential opponents especially considering Frampton is keen to return to Belfast to fight in the Summer.
