Five more medals confirmed at European Schoolboys/girls Championships


Ireland bagged another to five medals today at the European Schoolboys/Girls Championships bring our tally for the tournament up to nine guaranteed bronze medals.

Irish female captain Robyn Kelly, Nora Jackman, Robyn Murran, Yasmin Meredith and Kaci Crowley all advanced to Friday’s semi-finals in Albena, Bulgaria today.

The five join Katie O’Keeffe, Winne Christina McDonagh, Dearbhla Tinnelly and Nasya McJin-Igelige, who received byes, in the last-four.

Cork’s Michael Faulkner and Dublin’s Martin Collins also progressed to the quarter finals on a busy day in Bulgaria

However, Sophie Elstone, Labhaoise Glynn, Feidhlim Behan, and Conor Donovan, all bowed out, with the two boys being edged on split decisions

Nine Irish are in quarter-final action tomorrow looking to claim at least bronze
