Fitzpatrick has to settle for Commonwealth silver

JOE Fitzpatrick had to settle for Commonwealth silver after he lost out to local favourite Charlie Flynn in Glasgow Saturday.

The Immaculata puncher was out pointed by the Scot in the lightweight decider.

With a partisan crowd behind Flynn it was always going to prove difficult for Fitzpatrick, but in truth the local lad delivered a display worthy of gold.

Silver, however won’t be sniffed at by Fitzpatrick as It was the Belfast fighters first major competition.
