Magnificent mural of Eric Donovan being created in Kildare
Belfast is undoubtedly the boxing capital of Ireland, and there are murals of fighters dotted all around the city
From Carl Frampton to Ryan Burnett to Mick Conlan, there are fighters immortalised on walls all over the Titanic City.
However, it is not just Belfast, and work has begun in Athy, Kildare, on what looks to be a fantastic depiction of featherweight Eric Donovan [5(3)-0].
‘Lilywhite Lightning’ is in the process of being emblazoned across the wall of the St Michael’s Athy Boxing Club where he learned and honed his trade.
Donovan has been a part of the club for a quarter of a century, in which time he has claimed European bronze at both Senior and Junior level, 14 Irish titles including five Elite Senior crowns, and most recently claimed the club’s first professional belt – the BUI Celtic title.
The 32 year old is currently enjoying some downtime following his title win over Dai Davies earlier this month. He will soon return to camp ahead of a new fight date at the end of the year.
