Don’t respect Frampton and co says Rigondeaux’s coach

The super bantamweight World title holders bar Gullerimo Rigondeaux don’t deserve fan respect suggests the Cuban’s coach Jorge Rubio.

Rigondeaux, the WBO and WBA champion has made no secret of his desire to unify the division and fight the big names at 122.

However, the Cork managed two time Olympic Champ’s fight offers have been rebuffed and his coach is upset.

Rubio suggests the super bantamweight division is running scared and indicates as a result those who occupy it don’t deserve respect.

“It’s incredible. Rigondeaux is the best fighter in the world pound for pound. Any one that gets a hint of a fight with him is scared. He is waiting for an opportunity and is training for no fight. He is the best and he deserves to fight,” Rubio told Boxingscene.

“Don’t respect (Carl) Frampton, (Scott) Quigg, (Leo) Santa Cruz or any of the champions at 122. If they want to be champion at 122 Rigo is waiting for them. Rigo has two belts at the weight deos anyone want to try and take his titles? I feel bad about the situation and I hope his manager can do something about the situation.”

In fairness to Frampton he has expresses a desire to fight the Cuban so he can prove he is the best in the division. However, fighting ‘Rigo’ wouldn’t generate the kind of income bouts with Scott Quigg, Abner Mares or Leo Santa Cruz would, and therein lies ‘Rigo’s’ problem.
