Declan Geraghty grabs crunching quickfire stoppage victory in Belfast

Declan Geraghty predicted he would score a knockout tonight in Belfast – and he didn’t disappoint at the Titanic Exhibition Centre.

The Dubliner promised that he would finish his fight with Georgian Khvicha Gigolashvili inside four rounds on the Belfast Boxnation. Not only did he do it in less than twelve minutes, Geraghty needed just 33 seconds to flatten his Georgian foe and have the bout waved off.

While normally a backfoot fighter, the 26 year old southpaw came out firing tonight, immediately tearing into the Eastern European and ending the bout in the opening exchanges, leaving Gigolashvilli in agony on the canvas.

While upcoming Irish super featherweight title opponent James Tennyson is known as a huge puncher, Geraghty would serve a reminder that too he carries a bit of pop which can’t be disregarded

The early win sees Geraghty move to 14(4)-1(0), while Gigolashvili drops to 14(3)-16(8) following the stoppage loss.

There wont be time for ‘Pretty Boy’ to enjoy tonight’s victory however as he will return straight to training for his Irish title bout with Tennyson which is rumoured to be taking place overseas at the start of next month – should the cut sustained tonight by Tennyson prove not to be a problem.
