Cruz: Frampton is better than Quigg and is the No.1 fight for me now

CARL Frampton is top of Leo Santa Cruz’s wish list and he wants a bout with ‘The Jackal’ next.

WBC super bantamweight champion successfully defended his title via eighth-round TKO victory over Jesus Ruiz in Las Vegas on Saturday night and instantly set his sights on a unification bout with the IBF title holder.

Cruz has been linked with Scott Quigg and to a lesser degree Guillermo Rigondeaux and Abner Mares, as well as Frampton. Most would suggest that the American based Mexican.

Some would suggest Golden Boy would lean toward Quigg deeming it an easier defence, but Cruz claims he wants to fight the best and stresses Frampton is a ‘much better fighter’ than the Bury fighter.

“A fight with Quigg and guys like that does interest me, but the No. 1 fight for me right now is Carl Frampton. He comes forward. He looks stronger and has better shots and more skill. Quigg is a great fighter too, but if you had to pick between the both of them, Frampton is the much better fighter.”
