Danny O’Connor [26(10)-3(1)] will begin his comeback next month in Topeka, Kansas.

The Irish-America welterweight is returning to the ring to raise funds for his mentorship programme and will fight on August 13th at the Kansas Expo Centre on a Danger-Fire Promotions bill.

The 31 year old Framingham man will take on local star Jerry Thomas [11(7)-0-1] in the headline bout of a sixteen-fight card.

26 year old Thomas has not yet fought anyone of note, although his quality of opponent has stepped-up in the past three fights. Regardless, Danny Bhoy will be by far and away the toughest opponent of his career.

Thomas has yet to fight in 2016, with his last action coming in December where he won a six-round split decision over Jay Krupp [then 18(8)-9(4)]

O’Connor last fought in October 2015, being stopped heavily in the first round by Gabe Bracero in the headline bout of a Premier Boxing Champions broadcast.

Danger-Fire Promotions is co-ran by Craig Cummings, whom Irish fans may remember as the final opponent of two-weight World champion Steve Collins.
