KEN Casey knows a thing or two about entertainment. The Murphy’s Boxing head man is also the main man in Boston punk group The Dropkick Murphys, playing bass, singing and writing for the popular band.
Anyone who frequents The Celtic Warrior Gym will know, Gary ‘Spike’ O’Sullivan isn’t too musically gifted, but Casey isn’t looking for the Cork middleweight to serenade fans and claims he remains entertaining nonetheless.
Casey, who signed ‘Spike’ to Murphy’s boxing and announced a February 28 fight date this week, wants a big hitter not a big hit maker when it comes to all things boxing-and is positive O’Sullivan’s fighting style will have fight fans ring side at his bouts as excited as Drop Kick Murphy followers when they hear Shipping out to Boston live.
Casey was full of praise when speaking about his new signing recently and is confident he can help the Cork middleweight secure big fights over the coming years.
“Spike is the type of fighter that enjoys going to war, the only guy to beat him did so on points by running all night”, said Ken Casey of Murphys Boxing. “His fighting style will fit perfect with the usual raucous Murphys Boxing crowd. We look forward to securing Spike fights with the biggest names in the Middleweight division” added Casey.
