HE MAY have come from nowhere, but Jono Carroll made clear exactly where he sits right now, on top of cloud ten.
Pre the Return of the Mack Carroll was a relative fighting unknown, but victory in Prizefighter the Lightweight’s III ensured fight fans across the Ireland and even the UK are singing Carroll’s praises and not just Carol’s this Christmas.
The 22 year old Dubliner’s career will certainly change dramatically after he added Stephen Foster, Gary Buckland and Michael Devine to his record in York Hall. Indeed the victory could tempt Matchroom boss Eddie Hearn to come back to Dublin earlier than planned.
And the Celtic Warrior puncher couldn’t contain his delight after the tournament victory.
“Dreams come true, I’m on cloud nine… cloud 10 even – you know what I mean,” he said after a comprehensive victory over Michael Devine in the final.
“This is brilliant, this is unbelievable. My whole Christmas, this isn’t going to sink in.”
