Carl Frampton: Al Haymon wouldn’t want Scott Quigg!

Carl Frampton is always sharp in the ring, but he is also sharp with his tongue, as he demonstrated at the press conference ahead of his July 18th world title defence against Alejandro Gonzalez Jr.

Frampton had earlier said that he had seen rumours that Guillermo Rigondeaux may be joining the Al Haymon stable.

One journalist, however, had misheard and asked Frampton if he was referring to Scott Quigg – quick as a flash, ‘The Jackal’ offered a withering put-down of the Bury super bantamweight, joking that “Al Haymon wants guys who sell tickets and are big names – so he wont want Scott Quigg!”

There is definitely a real tension building between the two fighters and, if/when they do ever agree to meet, the verbal sparring beforehand will certainly be entertaining.

Both fighters fight on TV on Saturday July 18th – Frampton on ITV / UTV and Quigg on Sky Sports.
