Booth confirms Kid Chocolate v Lee isn’t happening and calls on Hearn to make Lee v Macklin
ANDY Lee is not fighting WBO middleweight Champion of the World Peter ‘Kid Chocolate’ Quillin on September 13 and wants an Autumn showdown with Matthew Macklin instead, claims coach Adam Booth.
Boxing stat site Boxrec had the Limierick man penciled in for a clash with the American world champ on the undercard of fight superstar Fylod Mayweathers rematch with Marcos Maidana. However, as rumours spread about a possible second 160lbs title tilt for the popular Irish fighter, Lee revealed no contact was made, but the world title hopeful did claim he was open to the clash.
However, coach Adam Booth, who manned the corner of Cork based Cuban heavyweight Mike Perez on Saturday night, yesterday said that Team Lee wanted the fight Irish fight fans have been calling for, for years.
Booth called on Eddie Hearn to make the domestic dust up between Lee and Matthew Macklin, who fights in Dublin on August 30.
@AndyLeeBoxing is NOT fighting Quillin… We believe @mattmacklin wants the fight. @EddieHearn let’s make it happen!!
