Anto Upton wins step-up in Walsall and becomes Title Eligible

The hugely popular Anto Upton won his first eight rounder at the weekend. Fighting at the Banks’s Stadium in Walsall, without his brothers Sonny and Pauly, the Belfast-raised light welterweight comprehensively outpointed Liam Richards.

The Ricky Hatton-trained fighter put in a mature performance and was untroubled throughout. This was reflected in the referee’s final scorecard where he won a wide 80-72 decision

With the win, 23 year old Upton has now made himself eligible for titles improves his record to 11(4)-0, while Richards falls to 12(1)-15(0).

The talented youngster fights again next month on November 21st in another eight rounder in the familiar setting of London’s York Hall.
