Aaron McKenna finds foe as he bids to impress Sugar Ray Leonard and co

An opponent has been confirmed for Ireland’s youngest pro boxer as he makes the step up to six rounds tomorrow.

Mexican Luis Angel Silva was initially confirmed as the 18-year-old’s foe but Aaron McKenna [3(2)-0] will fight now American Darel Harris [1(0)-1(0)-1] in Santa Monica.

The 29-year-old from Florida has a mixed record with one of each possible result leaving him with a win, a draw and a defeat.

His sole career loss came against  Travon Lawson, but was a majority decision reverse and he ran the debutante close securing a draw on one judges score card and losing 39-37 on the other two cards.

His record suggests he is game and comes to win, but he has fought down the weights and McKenna, who like Jason Quigley and Gary’Spike’ O’Sullivan is team Golden Boy, should be far too big for a man 11 years his senior.

The ‘Big Fighters, Big Cause’ Charity Boxing Night which benefits the Sugar Ray Leonard Foundation plays host to the Monaghan man’s fourth fight.

The Sheer Sports man has been kept busy since first punching for pay back in December of 2017 and by Thursday morning will be a six-round fighter.

The Smithborough native’s brother 20 year old brother Stevie McKenna has also turned over and news of his debut is expected soon.
