“There will be blood” warns David Lemieux at press conference with Golovkin

Two of the most powerful punchers in boxing will meet in a middleweight unification fight in Madison Square Garden on October 17^th and underdog David Lemieux is confident of making history.

“Who would have thought a small kid like me, smoking cigarettes at nine, ten years old, would one day fill up Madison Square garden,” said a proud Lemieux.

Lemieux [34(31) 0 2] and Gennady Golovkin [33 (30) 0 0] showed respect to one another throughout the proceedings but the Canadian IBF champion had a message for GGG.

He said: “I’m not here to be his friend I’m here to be his opponent. You will experience history in the making on October 17^th.”

Lemieux added: “This fight with Golovkin you can expect what you see, two hard punchers going at it. The fight speaks for itself. I don’t have to add much sugar on the coating. It’s going to be an explosive fight.”

Golovkin, WBA middleweight world champion, has 20 straight KO’s on his record and will be confident of adding another victim with his brutal aggression. But Lemieux is a big hitter himself which makes this bout an intriguing match.

The winner of this unification contest is expected to face the victor of Miguel Cotto vs Canelo Álvarez which takes place on November 21^st.
