Debut opponent named for Cyclone’s Josh Taylor on Saturday

Cyclone Promotions new boy Josh Taylor will box for the first time as a professional on the undercard of Carl Frampton’s IBF super bantamweight title defence on Saturday.

The 2012 Olympian will get to grips with the paid game by taking on Texan Randy Gibson [0-1(1)] at the Don Haskins Centre in El Paso, Texas.

An exciting prospect, Scotsman Taylor won silver at lightweight in the 2010 Commonwealth Games before upgrading to gold four years later.

As a pro, 24 year old Taylor will be promoted by Cyclone Promotions, managed by Barry McGuigan, and trained by Shane McGuigan.

The amateur standout will be aiming to make a fast start to life in the paid ranks this weekend before he features in a homecoming headline show in Edinburgh later this year.
