Paul McCloskey: I am in boxing limbo

PAUL McCloskey claims he is in boxing limbo, but remains confident he can fight his way out of boxing purgatory.
The former European champion returned to ring after a frustrating 14 month sabbatical in Leeds last December and instead of re kick starting what has proved a successful career the Derry native suffered a surprise points reverse.
‘Dudey’ suffered a 77-75 points reverse to little know Dave Ryan and admits the defeat has left him with little clue as to where he can go next.
The former World title challenger told the Donegal News he is unsure as to what the future holds.
“That has been a big hindrance to my career,” McCloskey said. “There is very little on the horizon so I don’t really know what’s going to happen. “They were onto me straight away after that fight and told me that I’d lost my status. I got in touch with the British Boxing Board of Control and asked them what happened. I felt I won the fight, but I didn’t get the decision. There isn’t too much help coming my way and I’m sort of in no-man’s land. “Limbo is a place I have to find my way out of it – but I’ll get there.”
