Football fans catered for in Limerick

Rendall Munroes promoter, Frank Maloney, has offered Bernard Dunne a crack at the European super-bantamweight champion.
Munroe successfully defended his strap for the fifth time on Friday night, outpointing Simone Maludrottu in what was a WBC title eliminator. As a result, the Leicester binman is now entitled to a shot at Japans Toshiaki Nishioka some time next year.
However, Maloney has made the surprising revelation that he would be willing to pit his charge against dethroned WBA champion Dunne before then.
“We made a fantastic offer for Bernard to face Munroe last year and I never heard a word from Dunne’s camp,” he said.
“I am now willing to make them another offer to face Munroe early next year if they are brave enough to step forward. All his manager Brian Peters has to do is call and lets see if he is up for the challenge, but somehow I doubt it.
“People might think I’m crazy to want the match – but Rendall could do with a knockout before facing Nishioka.”
Dunnes future plans remain unclear but he did admit last week that he would relish a rematch with Poonsawat Kratingdaenggym, who claimed the WBA title with a devastating third-round stoppage of the Neilstown native in September.
