‘I would have got him out of there’ – Belujsky looking to put missed Matchroom opportunity behind on Saturday

Vladimir Belujsky [10(8)-3(1)-1] believes he would have gone one better than Jack Cullen and changed his career with an eye catching stoppage win live on Sky Sports last Saturday night.

‘Big Bad Vlad’ had agreed to trade leather with John Docherty on the Katie Taylor topped card, that was eventually watched by 2 million across the UK and Ireland.

However, circumstances transpired against the ‘Slovak Rebel’ and Jack Cullen was afforded the chance to break the Scott’s Duck Egg, a chance he took registering points victory.

The Cork based super middle is confident he would have secured the same result but in more spectacular fashion.

“It’s definitely frustrating for me,” he adds when asked about Cullen’s win.

“I knew I could beat Docherty. I’ve been watching him for a while now, he’s nothing special and gets caught with quite a lot. Jack Cullen is not a big puncher and he hurt him multiple times in the fight and nearly stopped him. I would have definitely got him out of there.

“He is a three round fighter, an amateur that’s went through very low opposition. Everybody says he’s a big puncher but he’s knocking out people that he should be knocking out anyway.”

Belujsky doesn’t have too much time to dwell on the weekend and the disappointment as he returns to the ring on Saturday.

The 26-year old joins Dylan Moran, Tony Browne and debutant John Cooney on a card in Spain on Saturday night – and is delighted to have a fight to look forward to.

“I’m so happy to get out before the end of the year especially after my last two fights falling through. One in Poland and one against Docherty. It’s been a crazy busy year for me trying to complete my masters and with work so it’s very good to get out,” he adds before predicting a career best display.

“I’ve changed up a lot of things in my training and it will definitely show on Saturday. I might put in my best performance yet.

The big punching super middle has yet to have an opponent confirmed, but is hoping for some form test at the Guardamar Arena.

“I want to step up. I don’t see the point of fighting lower opposition it’s a waste of time and money. The difficult thing is that the people with the good records don’t want to get in the ring with me or they’re asking for crazy money to fight me.”

It appears the Conor Slater advised fighter may just get a big step up chance. Matchroom have suggested they will give Belujsky an opportunity when a slot arises.

“I know Conor has been talking to them recently. I am in a good shape and I will stay ready after this fight for when the call comes and I’ll be ready. “
