Sweeney hoping to be out again in a few weeks
Gary Sweeney produced a performance worth the wait in Bolton on Saturday and after waiting nigh on a year to punch for pay for the first time is hoping to make it back to back wins in quick succession.
The Galway Cruiser dropped Mario Lakatos three times in the first round of his first fight and forced the referee to call a halt to proceedings.
Speaking to Irish-boxing.com he revealed he wasn’t the only one happy with the victory and the manner in which came.
“I am very happy with the win,” he said.
“I was waiting a while to fight and get a win like that was nice. After the fight people were saying what a great body shot I laded and how well I put my shots together, which was nice too. I went in there just to get the win, but the chance to get the knock out came and I took it,” he added.
“I have no idea when I am out again but they said they will have me out in a few weeks, which would be great.”
