WATCH: When Muhammad Ali Came To Ireland

Today [June 3rd] marks the first anniversary of Muhammad Ali.

The three-time heavyweight world champion is regarded as one of, if not the, most influential sportspeople in history.

‘The Greatest’ had a storied career, fighting 61 times in some of the most famous bouts in boxing history.

In July 1973 Ali, whose great-grandfather hailed from Ennis, fought in Ireland. The superstar took on Al ‘Blue’ Lewis at Croke Park on July 19th, winning their non-title bout via 11th round stoppage.

An incredible story, the fight was profiled in a 2013 RTÉ documentary titled ‘When Muhammad Ali Came To Ireland.’
