10/10 – Noely Murphy passes New York test

Cork welterweight Noely Murphy made it ten our of ten tonight in New York.

The Macroom 22 year old was boxing at the Paramount Theater in Brooklyn and hit double digits on a DiBella Entertainment ‘Brooklyn Boxing’ bill.

Murphy, who won the BUI Celtic title last time out, made a step up for what was his second eight-rounder. Here he taook on Brian Jones of LA in the second contest of a four fight bill which was topped by Irish-American featherweight Heather Hardy.

Against a rough and ready opponent, who had faced world title challenger Thomas Dulorme in his last bout, Murphy eased his way to a unanimous decision points win.

Using his boxing skills, the former Intermediate champion dealt with a third round cut and was awarded the bout on scorelines of 80:72 and 79:73 (twice).

The win sees Murphy’s record move to 10(2)-0. Jones drops to 14(8)-8(1).

In the headline bout, Hardy outpointed Edina Kiss over eight to defend her WBC International title and move to 20(4)-0.
