Flanagan won’t give Ormond a rematch claim Team ‘Rock’

Team Ormond hold little hope of securing a rematch with current WBO lightweight World Champion Terry Flanagan.

‘Turbo’ has accelerated further into prominence since he defeated ‘The Rock’ on Valentines Day back in 2015.

The Manchester pro has claimed the World title and successfully defended against Diego Mangdelano and former Ormond foe Derry Matthews. The 26 year old’s team have been calling for an all Manchester clash with Anthony Crolla, but claim ‘Million Dollar’s’ team are running scared.

Ormond has on numerous occasions offered to step in and provide opposition for a fighter, who said he would rematch the Dubliner if he won a World title, but all offers seem to have been rebuffed.

Speaking to Irish-boxing.com before Frank Warren confirmed 42 year old Mzonke Fana as Flanagan’s next opponent  Ormond’s trainer and manager Pascal Collins said,

“We have offered it a few times. Stephen wants the fight and it’s one we know he can win, but Frank Warren has told us Flanagan is tied up until next year. It looks like they don’t want it, so we will go our own route. We have options and hopefully we will have big news for Stephen soon.”
