Tyson Fury: I am Klitschko’s bogeyman

Tyson Fury thinks that Wladimir Klitschko still presents the biggest challenge to his heavyweight throne, but the unified and lineal champ believes that he is in shape and has a mental edge over the Ukrainian ahead of the clash next month at the Manchester Arena.

In an interview with Boxnation, who will air the July 9th fight, Fury gave an update from his training camp in the Netherlands.

Some worried that the former Irish heavyweight champion may not be ready for the rematch considering his rotund appearance at the press conference in April, but Fury [25(18)-0] allayed fears, explaining that “we usually only train five days a week, but this time we’re training seven times a week to get the weight off.”

“I’ve been killing it in the gym, pumping iron, doing cardio, doing boxing work, sparring, I’ve been sparring twelve rounds four times a week.”

Ahead of their first fight last November in Duesseldorf, Fury seemingly unnerved Klitschko [64(53)-4(3)] with his eccentricity and mind games, but Fury feels that the dethroned Dr Steelhammer still poses a threat, admitting that “I’m a massive fan of him and his career,” and that “we’re gonna see a focused guy and even at 40 years of age he’s still a very dangerous opponent – the most dangerous out there anyway for me”

“He’d outbox Joshua easy and stop him, and do the same with Wilder.”

27 year old Fury does acknowledge his effect on the former champ and believes that “he don’t like me, I get under his skin”

“He hates what I stand for because I am a real man, and he can neve be what I am.”

“I’m Wladimir Klitschko’s bogeyman and I’ve been saying it for a hell of a long time.”
