Ceire Smith made it two from two for Irish boxers at the European Games today with a comprehensive victory in her flyweight Last 16 bout.
The Cavan fighter dismantled her Norwegian opponent, Camilla Johansen, winning a unanimous decision and not dropping a single round (40-36 on all three cards).
Smith is on the hunt for her first major international medal and the 22 year old will be delighted to be up and running and just one win away from guaranteeing a bronze.
Smith will now face Saiana Sagataeva – a silver medalist at last years European Championships – in the quarter finals. The DCU student confronts this test on Monday afternoon (14:15 Irish time).
