Quigley victorious after first real test in Las Vegas

Jason Quigley was brought the distance for the first time in his fledgling pro career tonight in Las Vegas. The Donegal middleweight had a tough four round bout with American Marchristopher Adkins, who has upset previous having taken Shane Mosley Jr’s unbeaten streak.

Indeed Adkins, who came into the bout on a six fight winning run, became the first man to take a round off the Golden Boy starlet during their bout at the Hard Rock Casino in Sin CIty.

The Ballybofey man suffered a nasty gash above his left eye following a clash of heads in the third with the tough come-forward Texan, however he dealt with the pressure well and exhibited some of the boxing skills that saw him win European gold and World silver as an amateur in 2013.

After four close rounds, Quigley’s work was rewarded with a unanimous decision victory, with the scorecards reading 40-36 x2 and 39-37.

With the year-ending win, Quigley improves his record to 9(8)-0, while the awkward and game Adkins drops to 6(2)-2(0).
