No American dream for Jono Carroll

‘King Kong’ will have to wait before attempting to conquer America!

Jono ‘King Kong’ Carroll today found out he won’t be appearing on the undercard of stablemate Patrick Hyland’s WBC featherweight World title challenge to Gary Russell Jr.

Sky had requested the Matchroom fighter be added to the Foxwoods hosted bill, that also see’s Stephen Smith challenge for super featherweight title, as they felt they needed a recognised face for their audience- and it seemed certain the Prizefighter winner would appear.

However, the Celtic Warrior gym puncher revealed today a second successive fight on a massive World title undercard wasn’t to be- he fought a 10 rounder on the undercard of Klitschko Fury I.

Instead the increasingly talked about prospect will fight on May 7 in Manchester.

The always positive Carroll will point to the fact his bout will be aired on Sky and will be on the undercard of Anthony Crolla and Ismeal Barrosso’s lightweight World title, a clash Stephen Ormond will have an eye on.
