Civil War- McDonagh and Cruise ready to battle for Irish title
Saturday 9th April 2016 at the K2 Leisure Centre, Crawley, London will see two dreams fulfilled in the one evening for Castlerea Super Middleweight boxer Darren Cruise as he looks to avenge a defeat to fellow Irish Super Middle JJ McDonagh which also includes a lifelong ambition of fighting for the Irish Title.
The MHD Promotions boxer Cruise has more than earned his chance to fight for the Irish Super Middleweight title after rebuilding his career since joining the Belfast outfit.
The 26 year old Irish soldier has put together a string of victories against creditable opposition before stepping up a division to face the now undefeated English Light Heavyweight Champion Tom Baker (13-0) loosing on points in what Baker claimed was his toughest fight.
The former champion McDonagh will face a different Darren Cruise from the last one he fought nearly four years ago on the Matchroom Prizefighter show in Belfast which was over three rounds as opposed to a more experienced and older Cruise over 10×3 rounds.
“This will be a very exciting contest, I believe in Darren, self-belief is a hard thing to beat and with JJ McDonagh being stripped by the BUI for not defending both fight for the vacant title so may the best man win!” added Mark Dunlop
