Macklin vs Barker off

Darren Barker has withdrawn from his British and European middleweight title clash with Matthew Macklin on September 18, as a result of a hip injury.

The duo had been set to square off in a mouth-watering clash at the head of Frank Warrens Magnificent Seven card at Birminghams LG Arena.

To make matters worse for promoter Warren, European light-middleweight champion Ryan Rhodes has reportedly withdrawn from the card, with a back injury.

Despite the alleged withdrawals, the bill looks set to go ahead with press conferences scheduled for September 6 and 9.
