MATTHEW Macklin believes he the only middleweight in the world that can justifiably claim he is capable of beating Sergio Martinez.
The Irish middleweight claims the Argentine’s annihilation of Julio Cesar Chavez Jr proved he is the King of the 160lbs division-in turn ’Mack The Knife’ claims his impressive performance against Martinez in New York on St Patrick’s Day proves he is heir to the throne.
“After watching Sergio put in such a dominating performance prior to the last round and to think I was ahead after nine rounds. It shows my standing in the middleweight division,” Macklin told Boxing Scene.
“I believe I am the only middleweight in the world that can justifiably say that I can beat Sergio Martinez. I can was a master class performance by Sergio. He schooled him. If you look at my performance against him I am the only one who can say I can beat Martinez. He is the king of the middleweights and I am heir to his throne.”
