Kelly back with a bang
9 February 2009 – By David Boyle
After a three year absence from the ring, Dundalk lightweight Michael Kelly returned with an impressive two round destruction of Latvian Juris Ivanovs in Craigavon on February 7.
Speaking to irish-boxing.com the former World Military Champion said he is hungry for more.
I thought it would take me two or three rounds to shrug of the ring rust, but I was feeling great, he beamed.
I have been so frustrated by the way my career had stalled and when I got in to the ring I just let my fists show how I was feeling.
Having seen his career stall for three years, Kelly hopes that such a performance will inject new life in to his unbeaten career.
Having performed they way I did tonight I hope that Brian Peters liked what he saw, and with the shape I am in I hope I can be included in his future promotions.
Kelly also believes that he can pay his way on any promotion in Ireland.
I sold nearly all my allocation of tickets and I could get two or three times that amount sold for my next fight. I could easily bring a big crowd from Dundalk to Dublin or Belfast.
