Carl Frampton knocking out sparring partners ahead of Santa Cruz rematch

Training camp is going better than ever for Carl Frampton [23(14)-0] ahead of his WBA featherweight title rematch with Leo Santa Cruz later this month, according to the man himself.

‘The Jackal’ defends his belt for the first time on January 28th at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, and is currently out in Sin City to acclimatise. Frampton is spending his time training in the gym of Shawn Porter and claims is feeling stronger than ever before – much to the detriment of the sparring partners he has had drafted in.

With the way training is going, the Belfast man is backing himself to knock out the three-weight world champion when the lock horns again.

Frampton described how “I am confident I will knock this guy out on January 28th. The signs are good in training and I just can’t wait to get out there. I feel good, young and fresh and Santa Cruz will discover just how good I am.”

“I have felt great in training. I know a lot of boxers say they have had an ‘amazing camp’ and they feel ‘in the best shape ever.’ but I really do feel that way. I am knocking my sparring partners out, and I am better than ever. ”

“I am looking forward to this fight and I am bringing the belt back with me to Belfast.”
