Final Opponents Confirmed for Dublin bill this weekend

The remaining opponents for the big show in Dublin this weekend have been confirmed.

Red Corner Promotions return to the National Stadium on Saturday October 7th for their fourth show in less than a year, and the card has been finalised.

Moldovan-born Dublin light welterweight Victor Rabei [1(0)-0] has his second fight on the bill, and will face ‘Mad Man’ Michael Mooney [8(3)-37(4)-1] on the card.

An old-school English journeyman, Mooney can occasionally ‘turn it on’ and has caused shocks before, including a second round stoppage of Sam O’Maison.

It will be Mooney’s first fight outside of Britain, and the Worcester 32 year old is expected to be coming to win this weekend.

Waterford middleweight Craig McCarthy makes his debut on the card and the former elite amateur will face Manchester’s Curtis Gargano [0-43(4)-1]

The Middleton light heavyweight, known as ‘The Entertainer,’ always looks to put on a show however doesn’t particularly come to win.

Earlier this year he went four rounds with Steven Ward with Belfast, play acting throughout and at one stage attempting to climb over the top rope.

Champions Elect also features debutant Karl Kelly, Victor Rabei, Noely Murphy, Allan Phelan, a fight between super middleweights Vladimir Belujsky and Manny Bique, and BUI Celtic title fights for Chris Blaney and Craig O’Brien.

Tickets cost €40 (gallery) and €60 (ringside) and are available from the boxers involved.
