Explosive knock out win for Doheny

T.J Doheny said goodbye to Continental level in style on Saturday morning (Irish time).

The WBA World #6 super bantamweight stopped Indonesian Nouldi Manakane (29-20-2) with an uppercut in round two of his 14 fight.

Manakane, a former bantamweight PABA champ, couldn’t recover after the reigning super bantamweight PABA champion landed flush on his chin and didn’t make round three of the scheduled eight.

Manakane may have won titles in his career and boasts 29 green W’s on his boxrec record, but he represented keep busy opposition for the Portlaoise southpaw at the Alexandra Basket Ball Stadium in Perth.

Doheny, who earlier this year turned down a last minute offer to fight Scott Quigg and stopped former two weight World champion Denkoasan Koavichit in October, is keen to use his World ranking to secure bigger fights in 2016 and is hoping to challenge for the WBA Interim title in the near future.
