David Oliver Joyce scores stoppage in second pro fight
David Oliver Joyce grabbed the second win of his fledgling pro career tonight in London.
Five weeks after his impressive debut in Belfast where he stopped Gabor Kovacs in the second round, the Mullingar lightweight was back through the ropes this evening at the Brentwood Centre on an MTK London card.
The Rio Olympian took on Lesther Cantillano and became the first man to stop the ultra-durable Spanish-based Nicaraguan
The Central American had gone the distance with a number of European level fighters since the start of the year, but was quickly taken out by Joyce.
The fight was streamed live on YouTube however, such was the sudden influx of Irish viewers, it would crash just as the first bell sounded.
Joyce pressed from the start, reigning in hooks on the shell-shocked Cantillano who was offering little back and the bout was eventually waved off as the third round drew to a close.
The win sees 30 year old Joyce improve to 2(2)-0 while Cantillano drops to 3(2)-6(1) after the steamrolling.
The triple EU gold medalist, who was sparring with Carl Frampton in the build up, will hope to be back in the ring soon as he continues his fast track to the top.
