Conformation of Burnett-Booth British title fight will come next week

Ryan Burnett’s will have a new date for his British title shot with Jason Booth as early as next week.

The WBO bantamweight champion of Europe was set to fight the experienced Booth on a Frank Warren promoted dinner show on November 23, but last weekend signed for Matchroom and it seems a change of venue and date will be confirmed shortly.

Speaking in his Daily Mail column the Belfast 22 year old’s new promoter Eddie Hearn revealed.

“Next up will be Jason Booth for the British title, an announcement will come next week.”

The Matchroom boss, who also promotes Luke Keeler and Jono Carroll, also revealed he has plans to bring the talented prospect back to Belfast. Indeed, the Matchroom boss, who promoted fights for Paul McCloskey and Carl Frampton in the capital of Irish boxing says he misses the fight city.

“I have missed the big nights in Belfast and we will be going there with Ryan,” he added before expressing a belief the Adam Booth trained fighter will work his way to the top.

“Every now and again you meet a talent who has that sparkle in the eye that excites you – this kid is it. He seriously could be a future world champion.

“I was getting told by so many people to sign him that in the end I simply had to. Adam Booth, his trainer and manager, tells me he is the biggest talent he has trained. Beyond that, the likes of Dave Coldwell rave about him and so does his charge Tony Bellew.”
