Cork-based Cuban featherweight Alexei Collado Acosta [19(17)-2(1)] is to roll the boxing dice once more in 2017.

Now older and wiser, the Leeside fighter is aiming to give it one more crack of the whip and has signed with English-based promotional company Assassin Boxing. It is planned for the Caribbean boxer to be rebuilt on both sides of the Atlantic, starting with a world ranking granting Intercontinental title fight in the very near future.

On the move, ‘The Hurricane,’ described how “Assassin is doing some exciting things for boxers and I’m pleased to be joining a team of fighters who share my passion for the sport. I have always had a goal of winning a major title and hopefully with Assassin I can realise that dream.”

Assassin Promotions chief Kaz Evans, who also handles the careers of Paddy and JJ McDonagh as well as Vladimir Belujsky, outlined how “this caps a fantastic year for Assassin and sets the tone for 2017, with some big shows already planned for early in the year. Boxing in Britain is growing at a ferocious pace and we’re well placed to offer boxers a great platform to take their career to the next level.”
