Change of opponent for Dunne

03 November 2008 – by Mark Doyle

Eduardo Garcia has been forced to pull out of his November 15 clash with Bernard Dunne in Castlebar, Mayo.

The highly-rated Mexican sustained a serious cut in sparring and has been replaced by Cristian Faccio.

Uruguayan Faccio, who is known as El Terrible, boasts a record of 16 wins from 19 bouts, 11 of which have come inside the distance.

Its unfortunate that Garcia is out but we had Faccio on standby and it was important that we were able to secure another world rated fighter for Bernard, stated Dunnes promoter, Bernard Dunne.

Weve seen a couple of his fights and hes very aggressive and can clearly bang but he can also be vulnerable himself so it should make for an exciting fight.

As for Faccio, he is determined to further his world title ambitions at super-bantamweight after failing to prise the WBC bantamweight title away from Hozumi Hasegawa in Tokyo last year and is supremely confident that he has the power to knockout Dunne.

Ive seen Bernard Dunnes defeat to [Kiko] Martinez so I know he can be hit and hurt, the 25-year-old South American stated.

Im a very big puncher and if I catch Dunne it will be like the Martinez fight all over again.
