Carl McDonald promises to hurt “baby” Regan Buckley

Carl McDonald [2(0)-0] has eight years of experience on Regan Buckley [1(0)-0] and he believes that will make all the difference next month.

For the Tallaght fighter, it’s going to be man versus boy, and ‘The Rocket’ is in for a crash before he has even properly lifted off.

The pair meet in a six-round super bantamweight scrap on the ‘Celtic Clash 3: Building Champions’ bill at the National Stadium, and ‘The Cobra’ has sent the first volley of verbals ahead of the fight.

28 year old McDonald was not the instigator of the early-career clash, but he has vowed to be the finisher

The Dubliner outlined how “it’s going to be good to shut him and his team up, they’ve been talking crap.”

“To me, he’s just another opponent I’m going to hurt. ”

Both were champions at the 2015 Intermediates, with Buckley taking the light flyweight crown while McDonald won top honours at bantamweight.

Now a natural flyweight, 20 year old Buckley is jumping up three weight divisions for the fight, and ‘The Cobra’ McDonald is predicting pain for the youngster.

“I can’t wait for it,” said the Jobstown native. “Training’s going great. We’re training here, preparing to do damage.”

“He’s a bit of a boxer, but I know what’s going to happen when I hit him, and that’s all that matters.”

“I’m getting called out by a baby, so I’ve to hurt him and that’s that.”
