Former Irish High Performance coach and current leading pro trainer Pete Taylor is to run his first Advanced Boxing course this month.

The one-day course will take place at Bray Boxing Club on Sunday January 21st and places are extremely limited.

Suitable for boxing coaches, personal trainers, group exercise instructors, and boxers looking to move into coaching, the intensive seven hour session will cover a wide range of topics.

Participants will be taught boxing essentials such as correct pad holding, proper form and punching technique, speed, power and cardio drills, combinations, defence.

In addition, the course will address safety and injury prevention, class structuring, strength and conditioning, and nutrition.

Leeds-born Taylor was a former top amateur heavyweight boxer who moved into coaching, setting up Bray Boxing Club in 1996 and cornering his daughter Katie as she achieved unprecedented success – including Olympic gold at the London Games in 2012.

Taylor made the move into pro boxing in 2017 and led heavyweight Sean Turner [12(8)-1(0)] to one of the biggest results of the year when they travelled to Switzerland and upset EBU-EE champion Arnold Gjergjaj.

He is also guiding the careers of top amateur talents Gary Cully [3(2)-0] and Olympian Davey Oliver Joyce [5(4)-0] who both turned pro last year as well as recently linking up with Irish middleweight champion Luke Keeler [12(5)-2(1)]
